Bankernes EDB Central, Roskilde, Danmark

BEC
The first turf was cut in Roskilde, September 2006, for BEC (Bankernes EDB Central) to become a well functional building with a stylish design. And there were a lot of things that had to click during the long journey.

One of these things was the building process. Another one was the interior fittings in the building including 300 new workstations, office chairs, storage, lighting etc. A dining room for 300 members of staff, one dining room with space for 100 guests, a reception area, internal meeting rooms, cafeteria and a brand new area for offices and conference rooms. And these are only a few of the projects proposed.

Five became three, three turned into one

We talked to Britta Kastbjerg Larsen, the Head of Department at BEC and the person responsible for the interior of the building. “At the beginning of 2007, BEC asked for an estimated cost from several office furniture contractors. We chose five to begin with. The suppliers were asked to present furnishing proposals for one standard workstation, the reception area and one meeting and education centre”, says Britta.
“After much consideration we made our choice of three contractor’s proposals. Finally we had come to our final choice, EFG Bondo A/S”.

A creative proposal with new ideas

BEC had certain demands and requests, for example, that the proposal would be creative and contain brand new ideas. However, the new ideas couldn’t compromise or eliminate either quality or function.
“EFG Bondo suits us perfectly”, says Britta Kastbjerg Larsen. “The proposals we got from EFG Bondo showed that they totally got the message about our requests and needs.”

EFG Bondo, understand the importance of good customer service

“EFG Bondo started delivering to the BEC building in March 2008. Due to delays in the building process, EFG Bondo had to put a couple of deliveries on hold, despite this we haven’t had any problems or conflicts in the collaboration between us”, says Britta, and continues;
“It sounds slightly over generous, but I can say that our experience working with EFG Bondo and our contact Jørgen Christensen, has only been positive, smooth and easy. Whenever or wherever I have been in need of help and someone to bounce my ideas off, EFG Bondo were immediately by my side to assist me. They really understand the importance of good customer service.”

Next stage; the meeting and education centre

In August 2008, the first stages of the building were decorated and ready to move in to and the meeting and education centre for the whole of BEC was completed at the beginning of 2009. When it was finished, it contained 20 meeting, education and testing premises with space to suit 4 people or more in the smallest areas up to 70 people in the largest.

“We started to reconstruct our old reception area together with EFG Bondo at the beginning of 2009. Today, this is a café for the staff. It has been, and still is, a big project, only a woman can do”, laughs Britta Kastbjerg Larsen. “A project which also has been thrilling and instructive to solve, and I have the pleasure to enjoy the result of it everyday.”
