Odfjell Drilling Group

Norwegian Odfjell Drilling Group owns and operates oil platforms in the North Sea and elsewhere. Ergonomics and functionality were top of the bill for the interior design at the company’s new headquarters in Bergen.

Odfjell Offshore had their sights set high for the interior design at the company’s new offices and they were prepared to pull out all the stops to ensure everything turned out just right. Our partnership began with a meeting at which the client, the interior designer, Randi Odd, and EFG exchanged ideas, thoughts and wish lists. We quickly agreed on the essentials and put together a basic proposal.

Test site and furniture
After some slight modifications, we installed a demo workstation, including all the accessories. Co-workers were invited to look, touch and give us their feedback.

Grey and black as basics
There are 120 workstations in all. The desks are all Ofi sit/stand tables with black frames and grey, high pressure laminate surfaces. Storage units feature melamine doors in the same grey nuance. ForaForm Convent tables were chosen for the meeting rooms with cable management to conceal all cables. The meeting rooms are fitted with state-of-the-art AV solutions to cater for frequent video conferences with oil rigs in the North Sea and company divisions worldwide.

Rooms within rooms
Most co-workers sit in open plan areas which we divided into smaller zones with the help of the furniture. EFG Storage units are used extensively as screens. To create individual work areas, all the desks are equipped with Icaros desk screens. “It’s important to take into account the personal integrity of the co-workers,” Randi Odd emphasises.
