A different kind of medical centre

Diacor has 11 medical centres located in the Helsinki region in Finland. The Alberg centre in the suburb of Esbo opened in August 1985. The suburb is expanding, both as a residential and commercial centre, which meant the medical centre’s 500 m2 needed to be doubled.

In January 2005 Diacor inaugurated its new premises in the Sello shopping centre. EFG was given the job of furnishing the clinic’s 1000 m2. The commission included furniture for the reception area, waiting room, examination rooms and laboratory. The key words were patient friend-liness, warmth, quiet, and creating a welcoming environment.

Despite the fact that requirements varied, depending on the needs and purpose of the room, the end
result was a balanced mix from three EFG table series. The furniture in the centre has rounded contours with balanced colours. The choice of materials fell to natural coloured birch and the fabrics were chosen with extra care to be both hardwearing and
easy to clean.

Reception area and waiting room
The collaboration between Diacor and EFG is based on longstanding and mutual trust – and a consistent
furnishing philosophy. But there was a slight, and unconventional, departure from the norm this time.

The reception counter was transformed into a sit/stand
table, EFG Nostra Niveau. Traditionally, the waiting rooms have been furnished with armchairs. This time, the choice was Kavaljer sofas with longer legs, Avia benches and tables, and Titan armchairs. The rooms feel bright, relaxing and airy.

Lab and examinations rooms
The furniture in the laboratory is more traditional in colours and materials. The base is EFG Nostra Niveau
sit/stand tables with tops in grey laminate. The examination rooms are furnished with the Team Pro range of tables, with a desk-like surface, rounded corners and flexible positioning – just in case the client
chooses to rearrange the furniture in the future.
